Since we’ve opened, we’ve been dedicated to changing the lives of people one person at a time, through martial arts, education and coaching. We strive to provide a safe, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for all students and family members. We take pride in creating an environment for individuals to achieve, develop and succeed in their personal goals.
We strongly believe that martial arts can be for everyone, regardless of age, gender or experience levels. Throughout all of our programs, students will not only learn the necessary skill sets to protect themselves, we stand behind our realistic and practical approach, confident it will enable every member to achieve greatness and live their best life..
Get To Know Our World Class Instructors
Mr. Wade Houston
Mr. Houston started his Martial Arts training as an adult with his son in 1987. He is currently an 8th Degree Black Belt in Sanshinkai Karate, a 4th Degree Black Belt in Sanshinkai Jujitsu, and a 1st Degree Black Belt in Kendo (AUSKF). Mr. Houston has also earned the rank of 2nd Kyu Brown belt in Judo. Mr. Houston started Karate International of Apex in 1994 with a goal of providing a safe and fun place to study the Martial Arts. Mr. Houston enjoys passing along the Martial Arts to his students.

Ms. Emma Lassiter
Ms. Lassiter began training at KI Apex at the age of eleven in 2009. She went on to earn her 1st Degree Black Belt in 2012, and her 2nd Degree Black Belt in 2014 before taking a five-year break from martial arts to earn her Bachelor’s Degree and begin her career as a music educator in the Wake County Public School System. She returned to Karate International in 2020 and currently trains in the Advanced Adult class, teaches Little Samurai classes, and is testing for her 3rd Degree Black Belt.
